Dividing the Land by Lot
Joshua allots the land tribe by tribe. The census gives the number of men in each tribe. Set the two against each other and the allotment becomes a question about how much ground a household actually gets.

Neither the area of the land nor the area of any single allotment is stated. Both are supplied here, and every figure below inherits them. The distribution is calculated in proportion to the census, which is the principle Numbers 26:52–56 sets out.
