Entry 76 · Section 8: Sky and Earth

Pleiades and Orion

The Pleiades appear as a tight knot of light while Orion's Belt appears as a straight line of three stars.

Scripture: Job 38:31–33; Job 9:9

AstronomyAstrometry

The question

Do the stars that look grouped from Earth also occupy one related three-dimensional structure?

Why it matters

A two-dimensional sky pattern does not by itself reveal distance, motion, or physical association; modeled stellar ages are reported only as modern astronomy's standard disciplinary model.
