Published verification ledger
What the book has checked, and what it has not
A reference book asks to be trusted. This ledger publishes material checks with their evidence class and current status.
Why some rows say PENDING. Every material calculation has been independently recomputed. A modern-source check remains PENDING until the original has been retrieved, read, and tied to the retained fact. Nothing is shown CLEAR merely because it looks right.
The six statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Clear | Passed every applicable gate. May appear on the page as stated. |
| Contested | Verified that the field disagrees. May appear only with an uncertainty note naming the disagreement. |
| Declared | An assumption the book supplies because the text does not. One chosen value, its basis printed, and a sensitivity row behind it. Never verified, never presented as attested. |
| Convention | A unit value the book fixes and uses uniformly — the cubit at 18 in. Verified once, at the entry that declares it. |
| Pending | A gate is unfinished. Blocks layout. |
| Pulled | Did not survive verification. The sentence is cut and the reason recorded. |
The seven claim classes
| Class | What it covers |
|---|---|
| T | Textual. Checked against the CSB, ESV, or NIV; the NIV supplies the working reading where those translations materially differ. This verifies what the text says, never that the event occurred. |
| M | Metrological. Two independent sources; range recorded. |
| K | Convention. A unit value the book declares and applies uniformly. |
| P | Stipulated parameter. Supplied by the author; declared, never verified. |
| C | Computed. Recomputed by a second, structurally different method. |
| S | Scientific. Peer-reviewed source or standard reference, retrieved and read. |
| A / I / D | Archaeological · Identification · Attributional. |
